Trent Alexander-Arnold has made an impressive start to the current season, adapting effortlessly to the strategies implemented by Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot. The 26-year-old full-back has displayed significant defensive strength while maintaining his characteristic level of productivity in attack.

Recently, he delivered a spectacular free-kick during England’s Nations League triumph over Finland, cementing his status as a vital figure in the national squad.
Such performances have only intensified the speculation surrounding Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool, especially as his contract is set to lapse at the end of this season. Notably, Real Madrid, who have long admired the right-back, is reportedly watching his situation closely.
According to a report from Sport Bild, Real Madrid is exploring alternative options as they prepare for the January transfer window, particularly with Dani Carvajal sidelined due to a ligament injury.
Despite Alexander-Arnold being a key target, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong has emerged as another candidate. The Dutch full-back shone last season for his team, making Frimpong an attractive option for the Spanish giants.
In addition, Tuttosport reports that Real Madrid is also keen on Juventus right-back Andrea Cambiaso. However, the Old Lady is expected to demand a significant transfer fee for Cambiaso, under contract until 2029.
Cambiaso, 24, has made a name for himself with solid performances for Juventus and the Italian national team since his move from Genoa in 2022. In 48 appearances, he has scored four goals and made seven assists.
Real Madrid’s consideration of additional options is particularly reassuring for Liverpool, which is determined to retain Alexander-Arnold. His future will remain a matter of speculation until a new contract is signed.
Alexander-Arnold has remained tight-lipped regarding his contract situation, stating, “I want to be a Liverpool player this season [as a minimum] is what I will say.” He added, “I have been at the club for 20 years. I have signed four or five contract extensions, none of which have been public, and this one won’t be either.”
