A chilling incident on Chicago’s West Side has left the community shaken. On the evening of October 10, a pedestrian stumbled upon a horrifying sight — a human head enclosed in an open box. This unsettling discovery occurred on a sidewalk near a sports complex on West Taylor Street around 6 p.m., as reported by NBC Chicago. The pedestrian, who was walking their dog, initially hoped the box might be a mere Halloween decoration.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has since verified that the contents of the box do indeed belong to a human being; however, the identity of the victim remains unknown at this time. An autopsy has been conducted, but the cause of death has not yet been established.

Several critical questions continue to loom over this alarming find, such as the duration the remains had been present before their discovery. Authorities are also seeking to uncover the identity, age, gender, and race of the deceased. The remains have been forwarded to an anthropologist to examine dental records, which may assist in revealing the identity and circumstances of the individual’s death, as stated by CBS Chicago.
